Pakistani Christians suffer a grave disadvantage in early education, which results in unbelievably high illiteracy rates. Studies conducted by various humanitarian agencies and non-profit organizations operating in the region indicate that there are nearly 2 million Pakistani Christians who lack basic writing and communication skills, results in job opportunities only at the lowest levels. Most Pakistani Christians labor in the areas of housekeeping, street sweeping, trash collections and other janitorial level jobs.

 

As a result, there are currently over 2 million Pakistani Christians living below the poverty line (even by Pakistani standards). Many earn as little as two dollars a day.
